WHO IS HEMOGLOPAINT?
Hemoglopaint ™ is mostly a consulting company but we also do collaborations, for instance with organisations who can supply blood themselves. We have for example worked with a moose butchery in Norway who needed to repaint all doors and windows on their property.
WHOSE BLOOD IS IT?
The blood we have worked with while developing the Periotone-palette is period blood ‘produced’ and collected by staff at Hemoglopaint ™.
WHAT PIGMENTS DO YOU USE?
The pigments we use are non-hazardous. They are lightfast and suitable when mixed with the binding media.
Our palettes are developed in terms of best properties. We combine pigments and binding media in a way to create the optimal paint. Not all pigments are suitable for blood-based paints.
WHAT IS THE PERIOTONE-PALETTE INSPIRED BY?
We have chosen to work with deep and vibrant colours that only becomes better when combining pigment and binding media. The palette focuses on good connections: A growing friendship; conversations a warm summer evening; sharing a meal with new acquaintances; encounter unknown landscapes, smells, cultures and people.
DO YOU SELL PAINT?
We encourage our customers to take part of the process of creating their own paint but we can upon request do smaller samples or assignments. With the specific palette, the job needs to be done at our facilities, since we are working with fresh bio-material that has not undergone any sterilisation treatments.
WHAT IF YOU DO NOT MENSTRUATE?
This palette is mostly made to inspire people of the female sex. We do not encourage objectification or exploitation in terms of resale for economic gain. However, if you have a menstruating partner or family member, this could be a good opportunity to get to know your close ones better.
WHAT WAS THE REASON FOR DEVELOPING THE PERIOTONE-PALETTE?
We have made this palette to let people of the female sex realise that they produce a substance they can use instead of purely discarding it. We also hope that it might change the general, public opinion about period blood being something strange, disputing or, in some contexts, shameful and a base for exclusion.
